Kansas City DUI
Driving Under the Influence
The Kansas City DUI lawyers
at Erker, Norton & Hare L.L.C. are dedicated to the aggressive
defense of DUI cases in the municipal, state and federal courts
of Kansas and Missouri. Our attorneys have an immense depth
of experience in fighting drunk driving charges. Such a charge
may be designated in Kansas as a DUI (driving under the influence),
DWI (driving while impaired), or an OUI (operating under the
influence). In Missouri the designation is DWI. They are all
essentially the same charge and the penalties for a Kansas
or Missouri DUI conviction are harsh.

Our firm has put together
brief overviews of both the Kansas DUI and Missouri DWI law
that we ask our clients to review. The "Brief Guide to Kansas DUI Law" and the "Brief
Guide to Missouri DWI Law" contain information
about the nature of the offense of DUI and the ramification
that such a charge or conviction can have on an individual's
life, driving privileges, criminal record and freedom.
If you have been charged
with a DUI in Kansas you only have 10 days in which to make
a request to the Kansas Department of Revenue for a hearing
to determine whether your driver's license should be suspended.
If you do not make the request within 10 days your license
to drive in Kansas is suspended automatically. You must act
fast if you have been cited for failing or refusing a test
of your breath blood or urine.
If you would like one of
our attorneys to contact you regarding a Kansas DUI charge,
or if you have another legal question, you can submit
a form and a Kansas DUI lawyer will contact you immediately,
usually within one business day. There is little time to waste.
If you have been charged with a DUI in Kansas you need information

one our questionnaires so we can get you the answers
you need now.
Our law firm has put together
two books for our DUI clients and have reproduced them here
online. This one is for our Kansas DUI clients, and this one
is for our Missouri DUI clients. Although they were written by one of our attorneys,
credit must be given to the many brilliant lawyers that we
have had the pleasure of discussing this subject with over
the years, and especially the attorneys at the National
College for DUI Defense. It is from those people
that we have developed many of our ideas concerning Kansas
City DUI defense. It must be stressed that none of the information
contained in these documents should be construed as legal
advice, nor does it create any attorney-client relationship
between Erker, Norton & Hare L.L.C. and the reader. We

Further, this information
in no way represents the totality of the law and issues related
to Driving Under the Influence in Kansas or Missouri. It is
but a brief overview. It is certainly no substitute for the
advice of an attorney, and no person should undertake the
awesome challenge of a Kansas City DUI case without competent
counsel. Also, the law is constantly evolving and changing.
